Primary Purpose of Department
The Counseling Center at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte supports the holistic well-being and academic success of students by providing clinical services, educational outreach programs, case management, and professional training. We serve as a welcoming, affirming, and accessible campus resource to support students' well-being.
Primary Purpose of Position
Under the supervision of the Director of the Counseling Center, this position provides direct service to students in the form of individual and group therapy, initial assessment, clinical consultation, and crisis intervention; consultation with faculty, staff, students, parents, and others; outreach and crisis response to the campus community; supervision of trainees and services to the University.
Summary of Position Responsibilities

  • Provides direct service to students in the form of individual and group psychotherapy, initial assessments, clinical consultation, and crisis intervention.
  • Consultation with faculty, staff, students, and others; outreach and crisis response to the campus community; supervision of trainees; and service to the University.

Minimum Education/Experience
Master's degree in social work or counseling or closely related fields. Two or more years of experience in the evaluation and treatment of individuals whose age and psychological development is similar to traditional and non-traditional college students. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Strong clinical skills, interest and experience providing psychotherapy a young adult/college student population.
Necessary Certifications/Licenses
Full independent licensure in the state of North Carolina as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker ( LCSW), Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor ( LCMHC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist ( LMFT).
