About the Position As the Registered Nurse for Immunization Education in Community Wellness and Health Promotion, you will provide evidence-based education on vaccine-preventable and communicable diseases through research, outreach, and intervention. You will promote immunization awareness across diverse community settings and collaborate with local, state, and federal partners to support public health initiatives. Additional responsibilities include working as part of the Vaccines for Children (VFC) grant team serving City of Phoenix providers, assisting with patient care in immunization clinics, and participating in disease outbreak response efforts. This role combines clinical expertise with public health engagement to improve access, education, and outcomes in immunization services. We Require
Two years of community-based nursing A valid, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse issued by the Arizona State Board of Nursing or issued by another state recognized by the Arizona Board of Nursing as a multi-compact license state Degree from an accredited school of Nursing

Job Contributions
Participates in public outreach efforts by supporting immunization events that expand access, promote vaccine awareness, and advance public health initiatives in community settings Ensures proper transport and handling of immunization supplies in accordance with clinical protocols and public health standards Supports health and wellness through direct engagement and education, collaborates with communities to design and implement targeted health promotion and disease prevention efforts with a primary focus on immunizations Addresses clinical vaccine questions from the community to ensure accurate understanding and informed decision-making Provides direct patient care in the immunization clinic, including vaccine administration, data collection, and documentation Supports the Vaccines for Children (VFC) program and VFC grant activities by promoting health and wellness through education and outreach, participating in quality improvement initiatives, and providing consultation and technical assistance to healthcare providers and community partners to enhance immunization practices and program compliance
Working Conditions
Position is typically office or administrative work and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions Ability to exert up to 20 lbs. occasionally, 10 lbs. frequently, or negligible amounts constantly, and requires walking and standing to a significant degree Valid Arizona driver's license is required upon hire May be required to travel to another location if coverage is needed Must secure and maintain an Arizona Department of Public Safety Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card and complete and pass a background check Within one month of hire, all employees will be required to provide evidence of immunity or receive immunizations for vaccine-preventable illnesses for any position within the Maricopa County Department of Public Health; required immunizations include MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Tdap (whooping cough and diphtheria), Varicella (chickenpox), and annual Influenza; some positions require a Hepatitis B vaccine and/or a Tuberculosis test
