We're looking for a *fully back-end* engineer (no full-stack/front-end) to join our Theme Park Microservices team. This group is responsible for building and evolving REST microservices that power a large-scale systems integration initiative. Many internal product teams depend on these services, so reliability, scalability, and clean API design are paramount.
You'll work hands-on with *Node.js* and *TypeScript*, design and implement RESTful APIs, and collaborate across architecture and quality engineering (QE) to ensure services meet specifications and performance standards. What You'll Do * *Design, build, and maintain* RESTful APIs, modules, and reusable packages using Node.js & TypeScript. * *Document* APIs and service contracts; contribute to internal libraries and standards. * *Own quality* via unit tests and TDD practices; ensure high coverage and maintainability. * *Collaborate* closely with Architecture, QE, and cross-functional teams in a *Scaled Agile* environment (participate in Agile ceremonies). * *Monitor and evolve* services for performance, scalability, and reliability (observability-first mindset). * *Support integration* efforts and guide dependent teams on consuming microservices correctly. Required Qualifications * *3-4 years* experience building *RESTful APIs* and microservices using: * *Node.js* and *TypeScript* (deep fluency required) * *JavaScript* (modern ES features) * *Express.js* or similar Node frameworks * *Git* (GitHub/GitLab) for version control, PR workflows, and code reviews * Strong experience with *NoSQL databases* (e.g., *MongoDB*, *CouchDB*), data modeling, and performance considerations. * Demonstrated practice in *Unit Testing / TDD* (e.g., Jest, Mocha, Chai). * Solid understanding of API standards (HTTP, status codes, error handling, authentication/authorization). *Strict requirement:* This is a *back-end only* role. *Front-end or full-stack* profiles will *not* be considered. Nice-to-Have Skills * *Docker* and containerization best practices. * *Kubernetes* for orchestration and service deployment. * Experience with *Elastic* (Elasticsearch) for search/observability. * Familiarity with *JSON* schema design and validation, and OpenAPI/Swagger documentation. * CI/CD exposure (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI) and code quality gates. How You'll Work * *Agile/Scaled Agile* delivery model with sprint ceremonies (stand-ups, planning, reviews, retros). * Close partnership with architecture and QE to ensure adherence to platform standards and integration needs. * Emphasis on *clean code*, *API-first design*, and *service reliability*. Success Looks Like * Well-documented, consistent REST APIs that are easy to consume. * High test coverage and robust automation for rapid, safe releases. * Scalable microservices with clear observability signals (logs/metrics/traces). * Effective collaboration and proactive communication with dependent teams. *Job Type & Location* This is a Contract position based out of Orlando, FL. *Pay and Benefits*The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $70.00/hr.
