| Position Summary |
The University of Georgia, College of Veterinary Medicine is an American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Neurology) approved residency training facility for small animal resident (3 years) and fellowship (2 years) programs. This is an intermediate position structured to suit applicants who have completed specialty training
DVM positions (internship and residency) prior to applying for faculty positions or private practice equivalent. The incumbent will be mentored by two neurology clinicians (
ACVIM-Neurology fellowship trained). The neurology service is supported by two clinicians, two neurology residents and eight rotating interns. On completion of the program, the incumbent will have completed the requirements for credentialing to take the board certification exam in small animal neurology. |
| Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies |
- The incumbent will have a valid license (regular Georgia or faculty) to practice veterinary medicine in the State of Georgia or be willing to obtain and maintain a valid license (regular Georgia or faculty) to practice veterinary medicine in the State of Georgia.
- Establish and maintain effective and harmonious working relationships with faculty and technical administrative staff.
- Communicate effectively with referring veterinarians, house officers, and veterinary students.
- Fellowship: To be considered for the fellowship position, candidates must have a DVM or equivalent degree; have post-DVM clinical experience.
- Preference for significant experience in clinical, laboratory and didactic teaching of veterinary students.
- Motivation to be an active and integral part of a busy large animal teaching hospital service.
