Role description
Job Title Associate II - Derivatives (UK Shift) Role Overview The Associate II - Derivatives will be responsible for post-trade operational support for derivative transactions, including settlements, lifecycle event processing, margin and collateral management, and reporting. The role requires close coordination with internal teams (Fund Managers, Dealers, Operations) and external parties (brokers, custodians, fund administrators). The position suits a detail-oriented team player who thrives in a fast-paced operations environment. Key Responsibilities
Derivatives Operations & Trade Support
Provide dedicated post-execution operational support to Fund Managers and internal stakeholders.
Process and confirm derivative trades across multiple products including:
Monitor and process all trade and lifecycle events for exchange-traded and OTC derivatives.
Manage margin and collateral processes and perform trade date confirmations (OTC and electronic).
Perform reconciliations and investigate trade, cash, and position breaks.
Transaction Management & Reporting
Ensure timely and accurate delivery of trade, cash, and position reporting to fund administrators.
Provide transaction management support to global investment teams.
Prepare and distribute required internal and external reports.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies with brokers, custodians, and third-party administrators.
Stakeholder Management
Liaise extensively with internal teams and external counterparties to resolve operational issues.
Act as an escalation point for issues impacting the derivatives transaction lifecycle, escalating to senior team members when required.
Maintain strong working relationships with Fund Manager Assistants, Dealers, and external service providers.
Risk, Controls & Process Improvement
Work to targeted deadlines and provide timely status updates.
Ensure all issues and discrepancies are disclosed fully and on the same day of discovery.
Escalate unresolved discrepancies outside agreed service standards under Team Leader supervision.
Contribute to process improvements, operational efficiency, and risk reduction initiatives.
Ensure procedures and controls are maintained, updated, and followed consistently.
Must-Have Skills & Qualifications
Education & Experience
A-levels or equivalent qualification.
Relevant experience in financial operations, middle office, or post-trade support.
Technical & Functional Skills
Working knowledge of post-trade processing and lifecycle events.
Ability to manage basic reconciliations.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
Strong attention to detail with high levels of accuracy.
Behavioral & Soft Skills
Ability to work independently with guidance from senior analysts.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work under pressure in a deadline-driven environment.

Prior knowledge of derivative instruments and their lifecycles.

Experience contributing to process improvement or operational risk reduction initiatives.
