This position is funded for 1 year(s); continuation past 1 year(s) will be based on university need, performance, and/or availability of funding.POSITION SPECIFICS ThePenn State College of Medicine, RadiologyAILab in Hershey, PA is seeking an Applied AI Engineer (Research Engineer) to join our multidisciplinary team developing artificial intelligence solutions for medical imaging and clinical workflows. You will help build and evaluateAItools-ranging from image analysis to large language model (LLM) applications-while working closely with radiologists, researchers, and IT staff to translate clinical needs into practical prototypes. Thispositionis ideal for someone with strong programming skills and at least a Master's-level training is preferred or equivalent experience inAI, who can learn quickly and contribute across multiple domains, including computer vision, natural language processing (NLP), and multi-modalAI. MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS If filled as Research Engineer - Intermediate Professional, this position requires: Bachelor's Degree - Engineering or Science 1+ years of relevant experience Required Certifications: None If filled as Research Engineer - Professional, this position requires: Bachelor's Degree - Engineering or Science No prior relevant work experience required Required Certifications: NoneBACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.
