Job Summary
The Measurement Analytics Director & Insights Director is responsible for providing strategic leadership in developing and implementing measurement strategies that evaluate the performance and impact of initiatives. This role directs the creation and refinement of key performance indicators (KPIs) and success metrics aligned with business objectives, contributing to the design and maintenance of robust measurement frameworks and methodologies using standardized tools and templates. The Director analyzes data to generate insights that track progress toward strategic goals and identifies opportunities for optimization. Additionally, they prepare and present clear visualizations, reports, and presentations to communicate insights and recommendations to stakeholders.

This role will influence organizational standards and best practices in measurement and experimentation, partnering with technical teams to develop measurement product roadmaps and collaborating with business teams to integrate measurement practices into their daily operations. The Director will lead the design and execution of measurement plans for high-priority enterprise investments and deliver results with actionable recommendations to inform strategic decisions by senior and executive leadership. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure measurement efforts align with organizational priorities, providing advisory support on data sources including collection methods and frequency, assisting in the development of new KPIs, conducting industry benchmarking, and promoting a culture of data-driven decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Define and lead implementation of a comprehensive measurement strategy to assess the performance and impact of key initiatives, including high-priority enterprise investments, across Commercial, Medical, and Government Affairs (CMG).
* Define and design common key performance indicators, aligned with business objectives, to enable a shared and common understanding of performance and progress of organizational investments and activities across CMG.
Design robust measurement frameworks and methodologies to evaluate the effectiveness of analytics and insights initiatives, and drive adoption of frameworks across the organization to drive consistent decision making.
* Drive an organization-wide culture of measurement and continuous improvement by refining measurement strategies and frameworks based on feedback and evolving business needs.
* Collaborate with the product teams to test and validate standardized products and tools for measurement.
Generate actionable insights from data to measure progress against strategic goals and identify opportunities for optimization for major organizational initiatives.
* Communicate vision and expectations on measurement to stakeholders through clear and compelling visualizations, reports, and presentations.
* Partner with cross-functional teams, including commercial, medical, market access, and IT, to align efforts & capabilities with organizational priorities.
* Act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders, providing guidance on best practices for measurement and impact evaluation.
* Identify opportunities for partnership with product teams to automate and scale measurement processes.
* Champion the role of measurement in driving business value and foster a data-driven decision-making culture within the organization.
* Engage with leadership across CMG to establish nuanced measurement standards practices that are most relevant to local context.
* Lead experiment design and measurement for enterprise-wide investments and experiments.
* Serve as a coach or mentor for analysts within the team, fostering professional growth and excellence across disciplines.
* Comply with all laws, regulations and policies that govern the conduct of Genentech activities.

Minimum Candidate Qualifications & Experience
* 8 years of professional experience in measurement, analytics, or impact assessment roles.
* Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, Economics, or a related field.
* Familiarity with designing and implementing measurement frameworks, KPIs, and success metrics.
* Experience in preparing and presenting data-driven insights and recommendations.
* Proficiency in data analysis tools such as SQL, Python, R, or equivalent.
* Experience with data visualization platforms like Tableau, Power BI, or similar.
* Understanding of statistical modeling, impact evaluation, and measurement techniques. * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Strong ability to explore large amounts of data, identify important insights and build compelling narratives.
* Persuasive written and verbal communication skills.
* Experience synthesizing concise summaries focused on key insights that inform business decisions.
* Comfort dealing with uncertainty in a highly-matrixed organization.
* Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with stakeholders.

Additional Desired Candidate Qualifications & Experience
* Master's degree in a relevant field, such as Business Analytics, Data Science, Public Health, or an MBA with a focus on analytics.
* Proven track record of proactive leadership, time-management, project management, and teamwork.
* Demonstrated ability to coach and lead teams and projects to drive predetermined outcomes.
* Experience or internship in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare industry.
* Mastery in exploring large amounts of data, identifying important insights and building compelling narratives.
* Familiarity with healthcare datasets (e.g., IQVIA, Symphony, Flatiron) and their application in analytics.
* Basic exposure to machine learning, predictive modeling, or advanced statistical techniques.
* Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new analytical tools and techniques.

Location
* This position is based in South San Francisco, CA and relocation benefits are not available.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of CA is $157,000 - $291,600. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below. Benefits
