Creighton University, a prestigious Jesuit, Catholic institution ranked among the nation's top universities, seeks an experienced strategic leader to serve as Associate Vice Provost of Academic Affairs and Operations for its thriving Phoenix campus. This newly established senior leadership position reports to the Vice Provost for Faculty and Academic Affairs & Dean of the Graduate School and provides critical operational oversight across the School of Medicine, School of Pharmacy & Health Professions, and College of Nursing.

The Opportunity:

Lead comprehensive operational coordination for Creighton University's Phoenix campus, serving as the senior-most academic operations leader on site. Based in Phoenix with full on-site presence, provide strategic vision for cross-functional coordination, campus operations, and stakeholder engagement while serving as a key liaison between Phoenix-based programs and Omaha leadership.

The Associate Vice Provost will bring strong collaborative leadership capabilities and operational excellence to guide the Phoenix campus's continued growth and success. This dynamic, solutions-oriented leader will work in close collaboration with academic deans, divisional leaders, facilities management, student services, and university relations to enhance the campus experience for faculty, staff, students, and visitors. Serving as a member of the President's Council and leading the Phoenix Leadership Roundtable, the Associate Vice Provost will address the following key opportunities and challenges:



  • Ensuring seamless alignment between Phoenix campus operations and university-wide strategic initiatives
  • Resolving cross-divisional challenges that lack clear ownership in a matrixed academic environment
  • Cultivating a collaborative, communicative campus culture that reflects Creighton's Jesuit values
  • Driving continuous improvement in operational models for scheduling, event planning, and visitor security
  • Leading organizational change management and process improvements through data-driven decision making

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary Phoenix-based leader responsible for operational coordination across academic, administrative, and student support functions, acting as an escalation point for complex cross-divisional issues
  • Liaise regularly with Omaha-based senior leadership to align university-wide initiatives and ensure strategic continuity across campuses
  • Serve as a representive for the Phoenix campus on President's Council and lead the Phoenix Leadership Roundtable and other key institutional planning bodies
  • Lead monthly building coordination meetings with facilities, events, university relations, and other on-site staff to ensure operational excellence
  • Oversee and continuously refine campus operating procedures, ensuring effectiveness, consistency, and compliance with university policies
  • Direct comprehensive building operations for the Phoenix campus, including on-call responsibilities and emergency response coordination
  • Develop and implement operational models that support efficient scheduling, event planning, visitor security protocols, and resource allocation
  • Cultivate a collaborative, solutions-oriented staff culture through regular Phoenix staff collaboration meetings and strategic communication initiatives
  • Design escalation processes for campus-level operational concerns and lead working groups to address complex challenges
  • Identify and eliminate operational inefficiencies through systematic analysis, stakeholder engagement, and data-driven process improvements

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree required; terminal degree preferred
  • 7-10 years of progressively responsible experience in higher education administration or academic operations
  • Comprehensive understanding of university systems, including academic affairs, student services, facilities management, and event coordination
  • Demonstrated leadership in matrixed environments with proven ability to influence across functional and organizational boundaries
  • Proven success in stakeholder engagement, cross-divisional collaboration, and complex issue resolution
  • Excellent communication, decision-making, and relationship-building skills with diverse constituencies
  • Must reside in or be willing to relocate to Phoenix, Arizona, with full-time on-site presence required

Preferred:

  • Experience in a multi-campus university system with demonstrated success navigating complex institutional relationships
  • Familiarity with academic scheduling systems, compliance requirements, and safety protocols in higher education settings
  • Understanding of mission-driven institutions and ability to embody Creighton's Jesuit values-cura personalis (care for the whole person), Magis (the more universal good), and service to others-in decision-making and daily operations
