Location:

North Las Vegas, NV - Filling industrial How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW? The Senior Operations Manager is responsible for the management of all aspects of cylinder gas operations and distribution within one location. This position will work closely with other Branch Managers to ensure timely delivery of production requirements. In addition, the Senior Operations Manager will implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, quality of product, and changes of working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of plant operators.
  • Manage the production operations and distribution for one facility, while ensuring compliance with all federal, state, local and company policies, procedures, regulations and laws.

  • Implement best processes of production in order to lower cost, improve quality, increase efficiency, maximize production, and ensure budgetary goals are met or exceeded.

  • Determine if SOPs are being followed and evaluate productivity and efficiency to ensure targeted order fulfillment.

  • Fulfill all record keeping requirements related to plant activities and field audits in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Coordinate cylinder requirements with area branches.

  • Develop plant and production goals; and work through subordinates to achieve.

  • Follow and maintain all FDA, OSHA, EPA, DOT requirements and regulations.

  • Hire, lead, supervise, evaluate, manage, motivate and train employees according to company guidelines and policies.

  • Manage and lead subordinate managers and/or supervisors to provide leadership to plant operators and drivers.

  • Conduct periodic checks of fill plant equipment for safe and efficient operation; and report any equipment or facility defects to proper personnel; as well as resolve problems associated with plant operation.

  • Ensure all injuries and accidents are properly investigated and reported within 24 hours.

  • Ensure all safety rules are strictly observed and safety training is regularly scheduled, conducted and documented.

  • Maintain neat, clean and orderly plant appearance.

  • Provide coaching and corrective action promptly, to ensure that poor performers are identified, documented and improved to acceptable performance, or released.

  • Approve overtime when essential, while keeping overtime at acceptable levels.

  • Ensure employee complaints, grievances, etc. are effectively handled.

  • Ensure pre-employment documentation and physical examinations are completed in a timely manner.

  • Review technical publications, articles, and abstracts to stay abreast of technical developments in the industry.

Required Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required; or Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.

Required Length and Type of Experience:

  • Experience using SAP or similar software systems.

  • At least 3-5 years' experience in production planning, DOT, FDA, SMS, and cylinder maintenance.

  • Experience in the welding industry and working knowledge of cylinder fill operations.

  • 5+ years of production experience, preferably in our industry or a manufacturing or distribution environment.

  • 7+ years of management experience (supervising, motivating and leading other associates).

  • Computer proficiency and intermediate knowledge of Google software

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's):

  • Operate a forklift, pallet jack and other warehouse equipment.

  • Must be able to substitute for plant technicians at each position.

  • Ability to read and comprehend Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).

  • Ability to work independently and under some pressure to meet deadlines.

  • This position will have occasional travel to Airgas locations and Customer sites while being exposed to different inside and outside work environments. Must have reliable transportation with a good driving record.
