Job Summary

The Outside Sales Representative is responsible for generating new revenue by proactively identifying, engaging, and securing new clients while expanding opportunities within existing accounts. This hunter-focused role emphasizes consistent prospecting, relationship development, and the ability to close profitable projects. The position involves selling comprehensive low-voltage systems and services, including structured cabling, security and camera systems, access control, fire alarm systems, audio/video solutions, and intercom technologies. Success in this role requires strong technical aptitude, disciplined sales execution, and the ability to build long-term customer relationships across commercial, industrial, education, healthcare, and government sectors. Compensation for this role is a base salary plus commission structure, with total target earnings ranging from $125,000 to $150,000.

Job Responsibilities




  • Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities through outbound prospecting, networking, and relationship building.



  • Conduct virtual presentations, demonstrations, and consultations to assess customer needs and recommend appropriate low-voltage solutions.



  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers within assigned markets.



  • Prepare, present, and negotiate accurate proposals, estimates, and project scopes.



  • Manage the full sales cycle from initial contact through contract execution.



  • Collaborate with internal teams to support solution design, pricing, and project planning.



  • Maintain accurate records of sales activities, pipeline status, and customer interactions using CRM tools.



  • Meet or exceed monthly and quarterly revenue targets and activity goals.



  • Stay informed on industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive offerings.




Job Requirements




  • Minimum of five years of experience in outside sales, business development, or technical solutions selling.



  • Working knowledge of low-voltage systems, including structured cabling, security and camera systems, access control, fire alarm, audio/video, and intercom solutions.



  • Familiarity with industry manufacturers and products such as Belden and Panduit.



  • Strong communication, negotiation, and closing skills.



  • Ability to manage a high-volume prospecting workload and maintain a structured sales pipeline.



  • Proficiency with CRM systems and virtual meeting platforms.



  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and comfortable working independently in a remote environment.



  • Valid drivers license for occasional customer visits, if required.




Education




  • High school diploma required.



  • Associate or bachelors degree in a related field preferred.




Work Experience




  • At least five years of sales experience involving technical, electrical, security, or low-voltage solutions preferred.
