Responsibilities

Palmetto Lowcountry Behavioral Health serves the state of South Carolina with a broad range of psychiatric and substance abuse services. These services address the needs of individuals and families living with mental health and addiction disorders. Psychiatric programs and services for adolescents, adults and senior adults are offered in private inpatient and outpatient settings. Position Summary:

To deliver quality general and psychiatric nursing care to patients with emotional or psychiatric disorders; serve actively and constructively as a member of the multi-disciplinary treatment team; and to ensure the safety and well-being of each patient. Responsible for the timely processing of inquiry and referral calls. Responsible for coordination of all admissions processes and serves as liaison to referral sources, families, payors, physicians, unit and hospital personnel involved with each admission. Respond to crisis calls and referrals with sense of urgency, verify insurance, triage patients, complete assessments, ability to staff clinical effectively, enter calls and admissions in computer and complete all admission paperwork with patient. Effectively communicate with unit staff and assist patient to unit. Complete nursing admission assessment and coordinate patient's move from intake to the unit. Ability to administer and document prescribed medication and treatments. Follow hospital's policies and procedures regarding admissions.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Receives all referral/inquiry calls and respond to request for information, assessment and possible admission
  • Provides and documents thorough and accurate assessment of individuals seeking addmission
  • Collaborates with clinical referral sources, families, doctors, agencies, and other callers to ensure assessments and/or admissions are coordinated as smoothly as possible
  • Assist physicians and other disciplines as necessary relaying information about current concerns or other issues

Qualifications

Education

Associate's Degree of Nursing

Experience
1-3 years of nursing experience preferred

Licensure

Currrent SC RN license or an RN license from compact state required
