Job Title: Temporary AV Support Professional

This is a Temporary position limited to no more than 9-months.

Job Summary:

The Temporary AV Support Professional serves as a key member of the Classroom AV and Events Support Team within the Office of Information Technology (OIT) at the University of Colorado Denver. This role supports the design, installation, integration, and day-to-day operation of audiovisual systems across the Denver campus, ensuring high-quality technology experiences in classrooms, conference spaces, and event venues.

The individual in this position provides advanced technical support, event production assistance, troubleshooting, and maintenance for a wide range of AV and videoconferencing systems. This position plays an essential role in supporting faculty, staff, and students in leveraging classroom and event technology to enhance teaching, learning, and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and deliver high-quality audio-visual support for classrooms, meetings, hybrid courses, and large-scale campus events.
  • Perform installation, configuration, and integration of commercial AV systems, including displays, projectors, microphones, speakers, and control systems.
  • Support and maintain classroom technologies, including podium computers, control panels, and video/audio equipment.
  • Proactively monitor and troubleshoot classroom AV systems to ensure uptime and reliability.
  • Prepare classrooms for in-person, hybrid, and distance learning sessions using web and video conferencing platforms.
  • Operate and support videoconferencing and streaming technologies, ensuring optimal sound and video quality for both in-room and remote participants.
  • Collaborate with faculty and presenters to ensure successful delivery of instructional and administrative content.
  • Work directly with AV vendors and contractors during installation and upgrade projects.
  • Respond to incidents and service requests in OIT's ticketing system (Cherwell), escalating as needed to higher-tier technical teams.
  • Participate in project planning, walkthroughs, and acceptance testing for new classroom and AV system deployments.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate records of AV inventory, configurations, and documentation.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience setting up, supporting, installing, and/or integrating audio-visual systems in commercial, educational, or enterprise environments.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Information Technology, Media Technology, or Electrical Engineering) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Substitution: Four (4) years of directly related experience may substitute for a bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis, but not for the required AV installation/integration experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two (2) or more years of experience in higher education AV support or commercial AV industry experience, particularly in classroom or hybrid learning environments.
  • Experience with Crestron or Extron Installation, commissioning, and support.
  • Current AVIXA CTS, CTS-I, or CTS-D certification, or similar manufacturer certifications.
  • Experience managing or supporting large-scale AV upgrades or renovation projects.
  • Familiarity with IT service delivery practices, including ITIL-based incident and change management processes.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Hands-on experience with commercial AV installation and integration in higher education, corporate, or public environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Commercial AV industry standards and best practices (e.g., InfoComm/AVIXA standards, HDMI, HDBaseT, Dante, and IP-based control).
  • Technical proficiency with commercial AV platforms and manufacturers such as Extron, Crestron, Vaddio, and Logitech, including configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Proven experience supporting projectors, displays, sound reinforcement, signal routing, and digital control systems.
  • Understanding of network-based AV, signal flow, and system interoperability.
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; self-motivated with excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The hiring range for this position has been established at: $20.00 to $30.00 / hour. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

Your total compensation goes beyond the number on your paycheck. Temporary employees are only eligible for sick leave benefits.
