Overview
Metronome is purpose-built to address the U.S. Government's unique security and operational needs in application modernization, containers, and Kubernetes. RGS supports all Rancher products exclusively with U.S.-based citizens who hold the highest levels of security clearance, currently supporting programs across the Department of Defense, Intelligence Community, and federal agencies. Metronome is seeking a DevSecOps Engineer to support Rancher Government Solutions at Fort Meade, MD. This individual will serve as a strategic technical force within the cleared community-delivering expert-level implementation, architecture, and enablement focused on Rancher's portfolio of container and Kubernetes technologies. The Senior DevOps Engineer will work directly with government clients to translate mission requirements into secure, scalable production environments.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Architecture
Serve as a trusted technical lead and hands-on engineer for government agency customers, building, deploying, and maintaining Rancher-based Kubernetes and containerized solutions. Deliver advanced DevOps engineering support, architecture design, and troubleshooting across the full Rancher product suite and supporting open-source tools (e.g., Kubernetes, Prometheus, CI/CD technologies). Develop proof-of-concepts, reference architectures, and custom technical solutions that meet complex government security and performance requirements. Maintain deep expertise across Rancher, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and related DevSecOps toolchains.
Clearance: TS/SCI with Full Scope Poly (active) Experience: 5+ years as a DevOps Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer, or Systems Engineer supporting infrastructure or container-based technologies within secure environments Technical Expertise: In-depth understanding of containers and orchestration (Rancher, Kubernetes, Docker) Automation: Strong proficiency with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab, ArgoCD) and automation tools (Ansible, Terraform) Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical details for diverse cleared audiences Leadership: Proven ability to guide teams and serve as a technical mentor or subject matter expert Mindset: Self-motivated, analytical, and customer-focused with a commitment to mission success
Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD) AWS Certified DevOps Engineer or equivalent cloud certification Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) Security+ or other IAT Level II certification
