The Sales Manager prospects and analyzes target groups and new business opportunities through market research and developing marketing initiatives. Identifies, pursues, and acquires profitable business relationships with new customers. Ensures maximum exposure of HD Supply amongst targeted prospects. Develops leads, conducts pre-proposal visitations, and assists technical staff with proposal preparation. Leads negotiations to obtain new customers. Manage selling and customer service activities, developing and implementing sales and customer retention programs to optimize sales performance, profitability and customer satisfaction. Plan forecast and report on sales and competitive pricing, activities and tactics. Promote market and technology research.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manages and develops direct reports, including inside sales, outside sales and special product sales
  • Communicate with local client/local authorities to discuss needs for project requirements
  • Communicates and negotiates special pricing and product availability with top vendors in district
  • Plans and implements district advertising and promotional strategy and activities
  • Trains and assists management on Point of Sales system procedures including Product Families, Quick Sales Matrix, Product keywords, and Product Grouping for quotations
  • Analyzes sales and operating reports for opportunities and establishes initiatives to address deficiencies

Qualifications:

  • Strong sales management background and product knowledge
  • Typically requires BS/BA in related discipline. Generally, 7+ years' experience in related field. May require certification. Advanced degree may offset less experience in some disciplines
  • Solutions require analysis and investigation
  • Achieves planned results by decisions and actions based on professional methods, business principles and practical experience
  • Manages a group or team of professional individual contributors and/or indirectly supervises support staff

  • Frequently required to stand

  • Continually required to sit
  • Continually required to utilize hand and finger dexterity
  • Occasionally balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl
  • Continually required to talk or hear
  • Continually utilize visual acuity to read technical information and/or use a keyboard
  • Occasionally required to lift/push/carry items up to 25 pounds
  • Occasionally work near moving mechanical parts
  • Occasionally exposure to outside weather conditions
  • Occasionally loud noise (examples: shop tool noises, electric motors, moving mechanical equipment)

Work Environment:

This role operates in a professional office environment with flexibility for hybrid work. Standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers are used. Occasional visits to warehouses or operational sites may be required. Typically requires overnight travel 10% to 30% of the time.
