This position coordinates translation/transcription and interpretation services for countless languages from all over the world, and works closely with the attorneys, paralegals and victim advocates who are on the front lines of the criminal justice process. We Require 
 Three years of responsible clerical and/or administrative experience High school diploma or GED A combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis Must be fluent in English and Spanish, including knowledge of different regional varieties  
 
Other Requirements  
 Must successfully pass the Journey level multilingual examination in Spanish within six months of hire Must currently possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona Driver's License at the time of hire The Maricopa County Attorney's Office requires a thorough background check of all successful candidates and is authorized to test prospective employees for the presence of illegally accessed drugs. Drug testing is conducted once an offer has been extended and prior to placement.

 Reviews files and recordings for language, dialect, time stamps, and quality prior to assigning for translation/transcription services Coordinates staff and/or contracted linguists for translation/transcription and interpretation assignments, providing timely delivery of services Proofreads completed translations/transcriptions for conversational flow, accuracy, completeness, format, and suitability for trial Verifies invoice accuracy to services requested and that vendors comply with contractual terms and conditions, and County accounting policies Monitors and tracks vendor spending, creates purchase orders and initiates purchase order modifications when necessary Collaborates with departmental procurement representatives to identify and process contract interpreters, and the translation and/or transcription of Spanish and lesser used languages Responds to inquiries from departmental customers and/or outside vendors Collaborates with opposing counsel's and the court's language services departments to avoid duplicate requests and ensure requests are correctly routed Monitors and maintains the unit's SharePoint sites, occasionally collecting and reporting various unit statistics Reviews evidentiary materials in transcription and translation requests to help prosecutors refine and narrow the scope of their requests (when needed)  
 
Working Conditions 
 Mostly office setting in high volume, fast-paced environment Requires extended periods of sitting while completing computer activities May be required to drive a personal or County-owned vehicle to travel to and from various County locations Position will include reviewing documents and recordings of a confidential and graphic and/or disturbing nature (e.g., personally identifiable information, protected health information, descriptions and detailed accounts of criminal activity including homicides and child sex crimes)
