Position Information:

The Heart Institute is growing! We are expanding to support the community and adding to our already robust interventional cardiology and cardiac surgery service lines. The right candidate will have experience working in an operating room setting in an advanced provider and/or certified first-assist role. Cardiothoracic Surgery experience is a must as this role may include endovascular vein harvesting, room and patient prep, line placement and other responsibilities specific to the operating room environment.

• Single-site practice that includes 5 full-time/3 part-time PAs supporting 4 full-time/2 part-time surgeons.
• M-F schedule with weekends; Rotating call weeknight 1:6, weekend 1:8; No ICU or in-house overnight call required.
• Stable PA group with low turnover, most senior PA +30 years experience
• Primary responsibilities include 1st assisting in the operating room including endoscopic vessel harvesting and peri-operative patient care under the supervision of a surgeon.
• Additional responsibilities include patient management in the progressive care unit and clinic (follow-ups only).
• Robust opportunities for clinician growth and leadership development.
• Highly collaborative, multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications:

• Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program with current, active certification
• Preferred 2+ years experience in Cardiothoracic Surgery including endoscopic vessel harvesting
• BLS & ACLS (American Heart Association) & active DEA license
• Physician Assistant License Required in the State of Florida; Board-Certified as PA
• Must meet credentialing requirements as established by the LMHS Medical Staff Services department
• Communication and interpersonal skills, basic computer skills and customer service skills required
• EPIC EHR with Healthcare AI to reduce charting requirements
