SUMMARY

This position is responsible for managing financial reporting and accounting activities related to a pension and retirement fund. The role includes preparing journal entries and supporting schedules for both liabilities and assets, maintaining ledgers, reconciling bank accounts, and producing annual financial statements. The accountant will also track daily market balances and may be assigned additional financial duties as needed. A key part of the role involves working directly with employees and retirees to support and clarify their pension-related inquiries and benefits.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare supporting schedules and journalize the Retirement Office activity (liabilities) on a monthly basis.
  • Prepare supporting schedules and journalize the monthly activity of the Pension Fund (assets) by money manager.
  • Maintain a general ledger and a stocks and bonds ledger.
  • Prepare annual financial statement and supporting schedules and journal entries for year-end closing.
  • Maintain a record of the daily market balances of the Fund.
  • Reconcile bank account.
  • Other responsibilities, as may be assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant financial/accounting experience.
  • Excellent inter-personal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong background in accounting.
  • Must be computer literate; ability to effectively use various financial software packages and Microsoft Office Suite.
