Are you an Occupational Therapist grounded in Sensory Integration (SI) theory? Join Us as a Part-Time Occupational Therapist

For over 25 years, the Occupational Therapy Center (OTC) of the Collaborative for Educational Services (CES) in Northampton, MA has been providing sensory-based evaluation and treatment for children, youth, and adults.

We are looking for an experienced therapist (part-time), knowledgeable in applying the principles of Sensory Integration (SI) theory to provide individualized evaluation and treatment for the following:

  • sensory processing disorders

  • fine and motor delays

  • emotional dysregulation, and

  • the development of functional life skills


Settings include a sensory-based clinic, schools, and occasionally home settings. Clinic services focus on the following areas outlined above, while school-based services will focus on IEP/504 goals implementation.

What You Will Do
  • Conduct evaluations, create treatment plans, and provide direct therapy or consultation as indicated, primarily for individuals presenting with sensory processing challenges

  • Provide school-based services which may require evaluation and determination of eligibility for OT services under a 504 plan or IEP

  • Train caregivers and school staff in occupational therapy activities to promote functional skills as appropriate

  • Construct, modify, and maintain adaptive equipment for positioning, ADL, vocational, and classroom use

  • Consult with school teams in the development and implementation of IEP goals for referred students

  • Access resources and support to implement client-specific behavioral programs as needed


What We're Looking For

We are interested in candidates who possess the following:

  • Experience applying principles of sensory integration to evaluation and treatment in a pediatric/adolescent setting

  • A Massachusetts Licensed Occupational Therapist and certified by the National Board of Occupational Therapy

  • Clinical observation skills and experience in administering and interpreting standardized tests, including one or more of the following:

    • Structured Observations of Sensory Integration-Motor (SOSI-M)

    • Sensory Profile (by Winnie Dunn)

    • Bruininks-Oseretsky Test of Motor Proficiency (BOT)


Our strongest candidates will also have:

  • Certification in the Therapeutic Listening Program

  • Experience with Astronaut Training and the Wilbarger Approach for Sensory Defensiveness

  • 3-5 years of experience in a pediatric/adolescent setting

Terms of Employment

  • 21 hrs/week based on the school year calendar (August/September - June)

  • Late afternoon/early evening hours required

  • Reliable transportation is required, as the position requires some travel to surrounding communities with limited public transportation options

  • Benefits available as outlined in the CES Handbook

  • Salary Range $50,323.70 - $88,552.10 (will be prorated for part-time hours)

The Occupational Therapy Center (OTC) of the Collaborative for Educational Services (CES) in Northampton, MA has been providing services to the Pioneer Valley community since January of 2000. The OTC offers a holistic, trauma-informed approach to occupational therapy that connects therapy with the settings and tasks encountered in daily life. Our therapeutic space offers state-of-the-art equipment and a safe, playful environment with personalized treatment opportunities. We provide evaluation and treatment for children, youth, and adults, with a specialization in sensory integration. Sessions may also address self-regulation, gross and fine motor skill development, visual perception and daily living skills.
