Job Summary: The Senior Vice President, Chief Nursing Officer is accountable for all aspects of Nursing Services to include responsibility for the provision of care to all patients admitted to Onslow Memorial Hospital. The SVP, Chief Nursing Officer executes leadership and professional work in planning, budgeting, organizing, and supervising activities in the Nursing division; establishes policies, procedures, standards, and objectives for the provision of services; and strives to improve organizational performance through continuous assessment and evaluation. Assists President/CEO and Executive Team in formulating, coordinating, and executing goals. Job Description: Primary 1.Supports and promotes safe, efficient, and patient centered nursing care. 2.Manages staff to effectively educate, train, evaluate, motivate, delegate and monitor their performance. 3.Displays expertise in industry trends and best practices in clinical methodologies and nursing practices. 4.Elevates the standards for nursing performance and achieving improved clinical outcomes. 5.Exceeds performance targets in quality, patient safety, and patient experience, and finance. 6.Surpasses goals and seizing opportunities to improve patient care. 7.Collaborates with governing boards and representatives, executive and clinical leaders in developing, implementing, reviewing, and monitoring organization-wide performance improvement activities. 8.Demonstrates effective time management, ability to manage multiple projects and meets identified deadlines. 9.Promotes trusts and employee engagement through effective and timely communication strategies by identifying and engaging with all relevant stakeholders to shape consensus. 10.Performs executive on call duties on a rotational basis in support of the CEO. General 1.Maintains education and credentials. 2.Effectively and consistently implements all levels of rounding as appropriate to the department. 3.Actively participates in and takes initiative to build lasting relationships and collaborations with senior leadership team members, physicians, and key stakeholders in a complex and highly matrixed organization. 4.Operationally and fiscally manages the division through successful development and management of annual budgets to include operations and capital. 5. Incorporates evidence-based standards into decisions for the provision of safe patient care. 6.Coordinates, facilitates, and manages change within the division. 7.Uses effective conflict resolution techniques and transparent communication techniques. 8.Uses project management principals. 9.Assesses and responds appropriately to organizational culture. 10.Leads people and change toward meeting organizational and nursing goals. QualificationsEducation/Certification: Graduation from an accredited school with a baccalaureate degree and Master's degree required, one degree must be in nursing. Current, unencumbered North Carolina or compact state RN license. Certification in professional organization, such as AONL or ACHE. Experience:10+ years of increasing responsible leadership experience required. Experiencefunctioning both as a member and as a leader of a multi-disciplinary team in tackling issues of quality, patient safety, patient satisfaction, and resource allocation. Profound ability to develop and implement organization-wide patient care programs, policies and procedures that describe how patient's nursing care needs are assessed, evaluated and met. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Excellent leadership, decision-making, and communication skills essential. Knowledge of current patient care delivery strategies, evidence-based practice and quality improvement concepts required. Strong and proven interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated expertise in the development of trusting relationships and partnerships. Excellent project management skills. Understands and applies principles, procedures, requirements, regulations, and policies related to specialized expertise.
