Your Tasks

The Head of Transportation will be responsible for leading all aspects of transportation within North America, as well as overseeing warehouse operations for both the Canadian business and Luxury brands. This includes the coordination and collaboration with our carrier partners, distribution centers, reverse logistics and destruction activities for the above. This high visibility role will be a key contributor in continuing to build world class integrated and efficient programs throughout the North American network.


RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Responsible for a $46M annual transportation spend for BDF North America including all modes of transportation across inbound/outbound lanes, customs/trade processes,

    • Manage, analyse and report on domestic and international inbound and outbound transportation activities and costs. Prepare monthly financial performance vs. budget reports.
    • Oversee carrier performance and compliance/customer service reviews, including carrier compliance with service and quality standards
    • Manage all carrier claims and implement a continuous improvement mindset within the department
    • Drive optimization and collaboration with key stakeholders within the logistics network to increase efficiencies and on time service to our customers
    • Primary demand owner for transportation tenders with a focus on driving high service, cost optimization, process simplicity and a customer-focused mindset


  • Responsible for Warehouse operations for the Canadian and Luxury Businesses

    • Manage, analyse and report on Distribution Centre operations performance, cost and activities. Oversee ongoing financial performance vs. budget on same
    • Participate in warehouse tenders and network analysis
    • Coordinate with stakeholders on Order Management, Planning Forecasts, Quality Compliance, as well as supporting functions such as HR, IT and Finance


  • Manage a team of transportation and logistics professionals

    • Supervise, manage, and mentor direct reports to develop Logistics team for future growth and ever-expanding scope of functional expertise within the department
    • Participate in setting daily action plans based on an analysis of workload, resource availability, and priorities


  • Assist the Director, Logistics in developing NAG Logistics strategy and executing priorities

    • Participate in management meetings to align transportation and DC operation needs
    • Provide backup to the Director of Logistics as needed


  • Support the Logistics Department and relevant stakeholders as a steering member on initiatives where the role supports as a subject matter expert
  • All other duties as assigned related to NAG Transportation and Logistics


Your Profile

  • 7-10 years of management experience in the domestic transportation, distribution center operations, or logistics field; with preferred experience managing relationships with carriers and/or 3PLs.
  • BS in Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field highly preferred
  • 5+ years' experience with Truckload, LTL, Intermodal, Sea Freight and small package/parcel modes
  • Must have an understanding and in-depth knowledge of transportation industry best practices, as well as HazMat transportation regulations, US DOT and Transport Canada regulatory landscape and CITES processes.
  • Required understanding of Import/Export processes in the United States and Canada, with a working knowledge of importing goods from Mexico, Europe and Asia.

    • Also includes: US/Canada customs/trade practices and process, cost impacts, documentation and timing. CTPAT Certification experience preferred.


  • Experience with outsourced transportation management and multiple modes of delivery
  • Experience with managing transportation functions in an extremely fast paced, high energy and growing organization
  • Proven ability to develop and mentor direct reports
  • Advanced computer and analytical skills, SAP experience preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, presentation and partnering skills
  • Ability to collaborate and desire to work cross-functionally
  • Results driven with quick response mentality
