The Role

As the Talent Development & Engagement Intern, you'll play an important role in advancing our efforts to create a connected, inclusive, and inspiring workplace. You'll help bring to life programs and initiatives that strengthen employee engagement, belonging, and growth across Save the Children US.

You'll be joining a team that is currently rebuilding and reimagining its way of working, making this a great opportunity to learn, stay flexible, and roll up your sleeves in a collaborative, hands-on environment. You'll contribute ideas, support key projects, and gain experience in how culture, engagement, and development come together to create a great place to work-all in service of Save the Children's mission to help children around the world thrive.

Location

Hybrid - Washington DC, Fairfield, CT or Lexington, KY office locations

What You'll Be Doing (Essential Duties)

Engagement & Culture Activation



  • Partner with the Lead Associate for Culture & Engagement to design and support fun, inclusive activities that build connection across hybrid teams.
  • Research and share creative ideas to strengthen belonging and engagement.
  • Assist with organization-wide events such as Founders Day, recognition campaigns, and learning moments.
  • Contribute to communications that highlight employee stories and celebrate milestones.


Design & Communications Support



  • Provide visual design support for engagement and learning initiatives using Canva and PowerPoint.
  • Refresh and maintain Talent Development & Engagement SharePoint pages to ensure content is current and visually engaging.
  • Contribute to the visual identity of Talent Development programs by developing templates, graphics, and other materials.


Onboarding & Learning Experience



  • Support project coordination for the onboarding journey mapping initiative - visualizing the first 90 days and key manager and employee touchpoints.
  • Research and recommend best practices that make onboarding clear, inclusive, and engaging.
  • Create visuals and tools (e.g., journey maps, welcome guides) that enhance the onboarding and learning experience.
  • Provide light support for virtual learning sessions, such as managing polls, chats, or participant engagement.


Required qualifications for the role



  • Passion for employee engagement, culture, and learning.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Creativity and an eye for design-especially using Canva or PowerPoint.
  • Comfort working across teams, managing multiple tasks, and taking initiative.
  • Interest in facilitation, event coordination, or internal communications.
  • Curiosity about organizational culture and the employee experience in hybrid settings.
  • Professional proficiency in MS Office suite
  • Professional proficiency in spoken and written English


    Preferred qualifications for the role



    • Experience designing or maintaining SharePoint sites or intranet pages.
    • Experience with Canva or other design platforms to create visuals, templates, or logos.
    • Interest or experience in employee engagement and culture activation.
    • Exposure to coursework in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Communications, or Learning & Development.

    Classification: Intern

    Compensation: $17.00-$17.95 / hour (depending on location)

    Hours: maximum 24 hours per week

    Dates: February 2026 - August 2026 (flexible start date)
