For a limited time, MaineHealth is offering a $3,000 sign-on bonus for qualified applicants. This bonus will be prorated for part-time positions. Please note this bonus is not available for per-diem positions. Job Title: Patient Service Specialist (PSS)
Location: Gilman Street, Portland, ME
Schedule: Full-Time | Monday - Friday | 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
Department: MaineHealth Adult Specialty Care
Work Setting: On-site only (not remote)

About the Role:

MaineHealth is seeking a friendly, organized, and dependable Patient Service Specialist (PSS) to join our Adult Specialty Care team in Portland. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for patients and play a key role in delivering a positive and seamless healthcare experience.

This position offers a consistent weekday schedule with no nights, weekends, or major holidays required - ideal for those seeking work-life balance in a professional healthcare setting.

What You'll Do:
  • Greet patients and visitors with professionalism and compassion

  • Schedule patient appointments and coordinate referrals

  • Manage front desk administrative duties including check-in/check-out, verifying insurance, and processing co-pays

  • Support general office operations and ensure patient flow runs smoothly

  • Collaborate closely with clinical and administrative staff to support patient care

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  1. Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.
  2. License/Certifications: N/A
  3. Experience: Six months of medical office experience required.
  4. Additional Skills/Requirements Required: N/A
  5. Additional Skills/Requirements Preferred: Proficient computer skills.
