In this role, you will be a part of a multidisciplinary new product development team! This position will understand and define customer needs; product functionality and performance requirements; product architecture, constraints and trade-offs; design and interface requirements, of new products being developed. You will support the overall design of the final product and responsible for all risk management activities to ensure a safe and effective product.

A Principal Systems Engineer will be responsible for development of products and providing creative solutions associated with the design, development, and sustaining engineering for our new and existing product portfolio. The successful candidate will possess solid "hands-on" technical abilities, an excitement and energy for product development, and a passion for their work and the impact it has on meeting the needs of patients.

What you will be doing:
  • Accountable for the entire product development process - from engaging with customers and marketing to compose and develop user needs, to the eventual product launch.
  • Plays a critical role in product development, making sure the product meets all the functional and performance requirements, and ensuring the manufacturing and service requirements are translated into product design.
  • Lead the development and documentation of the product systems architecture and systems level design, including the decomposition of the system architecture and requirements into subsystem and interface specifications.
  • Provide technical leadership to the development team to ensure that the project successfully meets cost, quality, and schedule targets throughout the product life cycle.
  • Resolve competing constraints between interrelated functions (engineering, manufacturing, regulatory, marketing, etc.) required to deliver the product to market.
  • Plan and carry out system integration tasks to reduce problems in systems verification and validation.
  • Document traceability from requirements to verification activities, and from requirements to design entities.
  • Resolve systems-related technical issues by applying problem solving tools such as cause and effect diagrams, Pareto charts, etc.
  • As lead integrator for the product, proactively look out for integration issues during development tests and ensure module/system development is successful.
  • Adheres to Baxter Quality Management system & supports the quality audits.
What you will bring:
  • Graduate or Post-Graduate in Electrical, Mechanical, Biomedical, or related Engineering.
  • 8+ years of relevant technical experience, including some previous mentoring experience.
  • A demonstrated track record in system development - covering requirements management, risk management, cybersecurity, usability, performance and reliability.
  • Experience in using tools/practices like QFD, Pugh Matrix, CTQ, DFR, DFX.
  • Systems development experience in diagnostic cardiology medical devices or any other medical device is a definite plus.
  • Agile product development experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication, inter-personal and leadership skills
  • Firm decision maker and shall possess good influencing skills
  • Openness to collaborate in interest of project/organization.
  • Mentoring capabilities.

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all our employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. To that end, this position has a base salary range of $104,000 to $143,000 plus an annual incentive bonus. The above range represents the expected base salary range for this position. The actual salary may vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills/experience, time in the role, business line, and geographic/office location.
