Great Hill is seeking a Senior Enterprise Architect in the Patuxent River, MD, area. The Enterprise Systems Architect will provide senior-level architecture and technical leadership in support of the Naval Air Systems Command (NavAir), specifically within the Digital Analytics, Infrastructure and Technology Advancement (DAiTA) Group and the Naval Leveraging Innovation, Frameworks, and Technology (LIFT) initiative. The incumbent will be responsible for the design, governance, and integration of enterprise architecture solutions that align with the strategic objectives of the Naval LIFT program. This position requires close collaboration with senior Naval LIFT leadership, technical stakeholders, and program management to develop innovative, scalable, and secure enterprise solutions that enhance operational effectiveness and directly support the warfighter.

Position Overview

The Enterprise Systems Architect will provide senior-level architecture and technical leadership in support of the Naval Air Systems Command (NavAir), specifically within the Digital Analytics, Infrastructure and Technology Advancement (DAiTA) Group and the Naval Leveraging Innovation, Frameworks, and Technology (LIFT) initiative. The incumbent will be responsible for the design, governance, and integration of enterprise architecture solutions that align with the strategic objectives of the Naval LIFT program. This position requires close collaboration with senior Naval LIFT leadership, technical stakeholders, and program management to develop innovative, scalable, and secure enterprise solutions that enhance operational effectiveness and directly support the warfighter.

Roles and Responsibilities



  • Lead enterprise architecture planning and implementation to ensure strategic alignment between Navy LIFT's business goals, technology roadmap, and mission requirements.
  • Evaluate existing systems, identify modernization and interoperability opportunities, and define technical strategies that improve system performance and lifecycle efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain enterprise architecture standards, frameworks, and policies to guide solution design and technology adoption across the program.
  • Provide expert technical consultation and independent recommendations to senior Navy leadership regarding technology investments, integration, and risk management.
  • Conduct research, technology assessments, and test and evaluation (T&E) of emerging solutions to identify innovative capabilities applicable to Navy LIFT and Naval IME operations.
  • Support Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), portfolio management, and enterprise integration efforts to ensure end-to-end architectural consistency and mission alignment.
  • Mentor and provide technical oversight to junior engineers and analysts, fostering knowledge transfer and professional development.
  • Develop detailed technical documentation, white papers, and executive briefings that effectively communicate architectural concepts and strategic impacts.


Basic Qualifications



  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, and a minimum of 15 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Active DoD Secret security clearance or higher.
  • Proven experience architecting, implementing, and governing large-scale enterprise systems within complex or classified environments.
  • Broad technical expertise encompassing cloud computing, networking, cybersecurity (including Zero Trust architectures), automation, data management, and Agile/SAFe delivery frameworks.
  • Proficiency in DevSecOps automation, CI/CD pipeline integration, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) methodologies.
  • Current certifications including ITIL 4 Foundation, Security+, Agile Certified Practitioner, and one or more Cloud Fundamentals certifications (Azure, AWS, or Google).
  • Experience engaging with senior government officials on a daily basis.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Experience supporting the Department of the Navy or other Department of Defense programs in an enterprise architecture or systems engineering capacity.
  • Working knowledge of DoDAF, MBSE tools (e.g., Cameo, MagicDraw), and enterprise architecture modeling techniques.
  • Familiarity with advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), automation frameworks, and digital engineering environments.
  • Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional technical teams and advising senior government leadership on complex system modernization initiatives.
  • Advanced certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
