The Public School Employees Retirement System (PSERS) is currently looking to hire a Retirement Representative Trainee to join the Bureau of Communications and Counseling, Employer Service Center. The Employer Service Center is responsible for communicating with the 760+ participating employers within the PSERS system. If you have strong analytical skills, have the ability to learn new technology and computer programs, are able to multitask, and you are customer service focused - this is the opportunity for you! This position is located in Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania for which the incumbent must maintain permanent Commonwealth residency. The employer will not pay for relocation, housing, or travel expenses.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Retirement Representative Trainee, you will be responsible to communicate directly with participating employers within the PSERS system through phone calls routed to the employer call center, email requests, conducting webinar trainings, and in person on-site school visits. You will be trained and responsible to instruct employers on laws related to PSERS, rules for membership eligibility and qualification, calculating service time, determining retirement covered compensation, differences between Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution reporting, and other relevant rules and procedures. You will provide technical assistance to employers and their IT service and software providers on correct file formatting as well as submission of member demographic records, contract records, work reports, and work report adjustments through web-based reporting systems. This is essential for ensuring retirees can obtain the benefits they earned in their roles with our state's public schools. This is a trainee position. Following the successful completion of twelve-month training program, candidate will be eligible for promotion to PSERS Retirement Representative Pay Group 07.
Candidates who would be successful in this role will have strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to use multiple computer systems and applications simultaneously to provide high quality and seamless customer service for our members and the employers who support them.

- Full-time employment (37.5 hours per week)
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. This position will require three weeks of in office training in Harrisburg prior to being able to telework. Once initial training is completed, this position will be able to telework up to 4 days a week, based on operational needs. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Four years of staff support experience assisting with human resources administration, financial management, or public relations work in a pension or retirement system or a related occupational area; or
- A bachelor's degree in communications, human resources, business administration, business management, psychology, labor relations, or a related area; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
