This position is National Remote. You'll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis, Virginia, Maryland, or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four (4) days per week.

This position is full time Monday - Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 8:00am - 4:30pm EST. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime.

We offer 4 weeks of on-the-job training. The hours of the training will be aligned with your schedule.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Research root issue of denials, apply knowledge of payer policies to pursue proper course of appeal or follow up
  • Prepare and submit appeals to payers as necessary
  • Identify and analyze denials and payment variances
  • Perform due diligence in reconciling outstanding AR balances
  • Leverage available resources and system (internal/external) to analyze patient accounts
  • Follow up on open claims thoroughly and with all supporting documentation
  • Review, document and resolve payer correspondence/calls
  • Works with leadership to identify and resolve payer trends
  • Identify payer delays/issues
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Must be 18 years of age OR older
  • 2+ years of experience with medical follow up & denial management, specifically in a hospital setting
  • Experience contacting insurance companies & appealing denials for a hospital/facility
  • Experience working with Epic
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to work Monday - Friday, 08:00AM - 04:30PM EST

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Medicare follow up and denial experience

Telecommuting Requirements:

  • Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
  • Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy
  • Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $20.00 - $35.72 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
