The
Department of Environmental Sciences (
DES) at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, New Brunswick, NJ invites applications for a full-time Non-Tenure Track Teaching Instructor. The Instructor's primary duties will be to teach and coordinate undergraduate Environmental Science lecture courses, online and in person. Initial teaching assignments will include multiple sections of Introduction to Environmental Science 11:375:101. Other courses in the Environmental Sciences and Environmental Engineering programs will be assigned as the need arises and considering the expertise of the candidate. These may include Environmental Chemistry, Environmental Biology, Environmental Fate and Transport, Careers in Environmental Sciences, Water and Wastewater Treatment, and others. The candidate is also expected to advance their expertise in pedagogy and advise and mentor students in our programs. Other duties may include service within the department, school, and university as appropriate. |

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
* Candidates are required to have a Ph.D. in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a closely related field.
* Teaching experience in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering or closely related fields at the undergraduate level, both online and in person is required.
* Experience with active learning and current pedagogical methods as well as inclusive course design and assessment are preferred.

The Department of Environmental Sciences (
DES) in the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences is the oldest environmental sciences department in the nation, with a history dating back over 100 years. In addition to its programs in Meteorology and Atmospheric Science,
DES is home to programs in Environmental Science and a joint Environmental Engineering program with the School of Engineering.
