Engine Technician - Shop

Holt CAT is the largest Caterpillar dealership of heavy equipment in the United States. We have a full-time, 1st shift Engine Technician - Shop position available at our Longview, Texas location. The hours of the position are Monday-Friday from 7 AM - 4 PM.

    Job Description:

    This position is responsible for providing high-quality teardown, inspection, and repairs of diesel engines (natural gas) in a shop environment, responding to customer needs in a positive, caring, and timely manner, and, ensuring maximum value for work performed.

    Qualifications:

    A qualified candidate must have the following skills or abilities:



    • Perform complex repairs correctly such as teardown, inspection, repairs, test running, and/or painting of diesel engines in a shop environment.
    • Experience working with CAT Engines 3600 Preferred
    • Experience in rebuilding Natural Gas or Diesel powered engines
    • Experience in conducting failure analysis
    • Experience in using CAT ET or SIS to properly diagnose/troubleshoot
    • Experience in following established guidelines and safety protocols in a shop environment
    • Ability to be productive by working efficiently and effectively.
    • Must have own tools.
    • Must have a valid driver's license.
    • Must have steady employment history
    • Ability to frequently reach, bend, walk, etc.
    • Must be able to lift 60 lbs. approximately 15 times a day.
    • Able to stand and walk for extended periods.
    • Excellent attention to detail and results-oriented.
    • Excellent attendance is required.
    • Able to work overtime as needed to meet customer demand.
    • Must have good communications skills both verbal, writing and using electronic devices
    • Must be able to work as a individual (self-starter) or a member of a Team in different projects


    Education and Experience:



    • Diesel Technical schooling preferred
    • Industrial engine rebuilding experience preferred
    • 2 years of related industry experience


    Travel:



    • No travel required, only for training

    • None


    Physical Requirements:



    • Must be able to move objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue
    • Occasionally moves materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
    • Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina
    • Ascend/descend with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet and climb up and down ladders
    • Be able to safely maneuver and work underneath equipment
    • Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work


    Work Environment:



    • Regularly works indoors around moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to weather extremes when working outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity
    • Noise level may be loud at times
    • Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, steam, high-pressure water, and high-speed rotating equipment
    • Significant time spent in confined spaces and high places
