What to Expect

The manufacturing quality data engineering team is a high impact, high priority and high visibility team that is laser focus on safety critical issues and expanding critical services to Gigafactories worldwide. Within Tesla's Vehicle Engineering organization, you will have the data gold mines across design, manufacturing and vehicle data sources, enabling you to design, create and deploy innovative new data services, automation and machine learning tools into production use. We are seeking a detail-oriented and innovative Senior Software Manual Test Engineer to join our high-impact Manufacturing Quality Data Engineering team, ensuring exceptional product quality through rigorous manual testing in a safety-critical environment.


What You'll Do
  • Lead the testing strategy, and design, develop, and maintain comprehensive test plans and manual test cases, ensuring exceptional end-to-end quality for products
  • Collaborate across teams with product managers, software developers, and other test teams to identify risks and deliver optimal and creative testing solutions that support product goals
  • Perform exploratory and manual testing to uncover issues in software functionality, usability, and performance, including regression and end-to-end testing
  • Identify, document, and track software defects using bug-tracking tools (e.g., Jira), and verify fixes through rigorous validation
  • Participate in requirements reviews, sprint planning, and retrospectives to contribute to test strategy and process improvements
  • Plan release versions and scopes, host release meetings, and manage preflight checklists to ensure thorough preparation, risk mitigation, and successful deployments in a safety-critical environment
  • Handle ad-hoc user escalations by performing basic troubleshooting, gathering feedback, and incorporating insights back into test plans to enhance product quality and prevent future issues
  • Develop and maintain user guides, tutorials, and documentation to provide clear, user-friendly instructions for end-users, leveraging testing insights to enhance product usability and support training
  • Create and maintain detailed test documentation, including test plans, reports, and metrics, while assisting in user acceptance testing (UAT) and product releases

What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience in manual software testing, with at least 3 years in leadership roles within agile environments
  • Strong understanding of software testing principles, methodologies, and lifecycle (e.g., SDLC, STLC), with a focus on manual approaches
  • Proficiency in manual testing of web, mobile, or desktop applications across various browsers, devices, and operating systems
  • Experience with defect tracking and test management software (e.g Jira)
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with a keen eye for detail and the ability to think like an end-user
  • Strong communication and leadership skills for mentoring, reviews, cross-functional collaboration, creating user documentation, and handling user escalations
  • Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

    Expected Compensation
    $68,000 - $240,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
