The role of Plant Manager is to manage, direct, and coordinate overall plant operations and assure production objectives are achieved at the lowest cost consistent with quality requirements. Key duties include: Review plant operations, approve changes in production methods, machinery, equipment, etc. and oversee maintenance of building machinery, equipment, plant security, etc.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Coordinate the execution of manufacturing, maintenance requirement, plant capacity, etc. in accordance with company policies and procedures, government laws, regulations.
- Control quality and cost of production, warehouse, receiving and shipping of materials.
- Participate in determining plant policies and direct the application of these policies.
- Participate in long-range plant expansion, conversion, equipment planning etc. accordance with organizational and divisional policies and procedures.
- Continuous Improvement. Apply LEAN and Lean Sigma methodology in the pursuit of improving quality and processes.
- Actively drive improvement projects utilizing LEAN and Lean Sigma processes.
- Make presentations and recommendations to top management.
- Participate in interviews, employment and termination of employees, perform and instruct employees in conducting performance appraisals, recommendations for raises, etc.
Job Requirements
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a technical or business-related field required
- 8-10 years' in a manufacturing environment with at least 5 in a supervisory capacity
- Experience managing direct labor as well as professional staff
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing procedures and best practices.
- Strong communication skills both written and verbally
- Ability to occasionally bend, stoop, and move throughout a warehouse.
- Ability to perform basic office duties.
Preferred Requirements
- MBA or M.S. in technical field preferred
- Six Sigma Green Belt Preferred
- Experience in Medical Device industry preferred
- Ability to communicate information through chain of command
