Led by Visa's Chief Data Officer, the Global Data Office coordinates high-impact, complex, company-wide projects related to data business strategy, critical investments, policy development, and marketplace execution. Working closely with Visa's Chief Privacy Officer, the Technology organization, the wider data community, and the full set of Visa's global lines of business, the Global Data Office is evolving Visa's data-related work with momentum and enthusiasm. Driven by its commitment to trusted use of data, Visa is seeking enthusiastic leaders who are change-agents and passionate about the future of data around the world.

The GDO Data Engineering teamislooking for an intern to support with requirements and product ownership for different Data Products and Data Platforms. As an intern, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product leadership, technology, product operations, regional and global solutions, business intelligence, privacy, and governance, to enable high-quality data products and data platforms for multiple internal and external cases. You will have the opportunity to help shape the future of product and platform capabilities and drive innovation at Visa.

Responsibilities included, but limited to:

  • Build and optimize Spark or Hive queries for both batch and interactive data processing on Hadoop.
  • Develop and automate ETL pipelines using Apache Airflow to schedule, monitor, and manage dependencies and data flows across multiple systems.
  • Support the integration of data sources and facilitate reporting solutions for business stakeholders utilizing Tableau and Power BI.
  • Enhance and maintain existing data workflows, collaborating with operations and analytics teams to ensure reliable, high-performance data delivery.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to data pipeline performance or job orchestration on Spark, Hadoop, and Airflow platforms.
Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field graduating December 2026 - August 2027
  • Strong communications skills, specifically, the absence of repeated grammatical or typographical errors, clear and concise written and spoken communications that demonstrate professional judgment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in at least one programming language or technology including, but not limited, to SQL, Python &R.
  • Hands-on experience with Hadoop, Spark, and Hive for large-scale data engineering in on-premises environments.
  • Practical knowledge of ETL automation tools, especially Apache Airflow, and workflow orchestration principles for reliable and scalable data pipelines.
  • Experience designing, developing, and delivering reporting and analytics solutions using Tableau or Power BI for end-user insights and business intelligence needs.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and troubleshooting skills across distributed computing systems and business intelligence platforms.
  • Ability to leverage Generative AI (GenAI) tools (e.g., ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, AI code assistants) to automate ETL script writing, generate documentation, accelerate error debugging, and support faster data quality assessments.
  • Willingness and adaptability to experiment with new AI-powered techniques and cloud-native practices that improve productivity, data governance, and engineering efficiency
Additional Information

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated hourly range for a new hire into this position is $40/hr to $45/hr which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

Work Hours:Varies upon the needs of the department

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.

Travel Requirements:This position requires travel5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements:This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.
