Responsibilities

JOB TITLE: HVAC TECHNICIAN (7:30 AM TO 4:00 PM)

JOB OVERVIEW:

The HVAC Technician is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and servicing heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient facility operations. This position supports hospital and diagnostic center environments by responding to service requests, performing preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting system issues in compliance with safety, regulatory, and organizational standards. Demonstrates Service Excellence at all times. Other duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities:

- Performs maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC and refrigeration equipment, including chillers, air handlers, split systems, refrigerators, ice machines, and water heaters.

- Operates and adjusts building automation systems, monitoring temperature, humidity, and set points to maintain optimal environmental conditions.

- Conducts electrical and plumbing troubleshooting as related to mechanical systems; interprets and applies electrical diagrams when needed.

- Responds to emergency, priority, and routine service calls within established time frames, independently resolving most mechanical issues.

- Maintains accurate records of all work performed in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).

- Orders and coordinates delivery of replacement parts and verifies invoicing accuracy; ensures timely return of exchange parts for credit.

- Assists with training and in-service education for staff on proper operation of mechanical systems.

- Participates in on-call rotation to provide after-hours coverage.

- Ensures compliance with all applicable safety, infection control, and regulatory standards in the operation and repair of HVAC equipment.

- Collaborates with Plant Engineering and other departments to support facility operations and ensure uninterrupted patient care environments.

- Supports departmental initiatives for cost savings, energy efficiency, and equipment lifecycle management.

Qualifications

JOB QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

Education: High School Graduate or GED required. Associate's Degree preferred. Vocational or Technical Program in HVAC or Refrigeration preferred.

Experience Required: Minimum Two (2) years as a journeyman HVAC mechanic. Previous healthcare experience preferred.

Required Licensure/Certification/Registration: Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Certification is required.

Mimimum : 21 years of age

Work Conditions: Heavy Standing, Walking, and Pushing and/or Lifting up to 25 pounds. Moderate Balancing, Kneeling, Crouching, Reaching/Working Overhead, Loud Noices and Vibration. Light Sitting, Crawling, Keyboard Use/Repetitive Hand Motion, Climbing, Chemicals and Fumes and Extreme Tempertures.
