DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Maintenance Repairman 2, your role will involve a diverse range of skilled trade activities, including the construction of concrete forms, the pouring and finishing of concrete, and performing stone masonry tasks as part of a dedicated bridge maintenance team within the Cumberland County Maintenance District. Your responsibilities will extend to general carpentry, where you will be involved in building and repairing various structures such as partitions, concrete forms, walls, cabinets, countertops, and office furniture. Additionally, you will handle electrical and plumbing tasks related to the upkeep of county maintenance buildings. To effectively carry out these duties, it is crucial to prioritize the safe operation of equipment, including dump trucks, front loaders, high lifts, and tractor mowers. You will also engage in manual labor utilizing hand tools like shovels, rakes, hammers, and hand saws, alongside operating motorized equipment such as power saws, compressors, jackhammers, tampers, and pumps. Selecting the right tools and techniques for each job is essential to improve efficiency and reduce wear and tear on equipment, and it is important to promptly report any missing or damaged tools to ensure smooth operations.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Operating hours may vary according to seasonal demands.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.

Special Requirements:

  • This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.

Additional Requirements:
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
