Position Highlights |
The Child Health Research Institute at the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix is looking for a Researcher/Scientist III to study respiratory lung disorders. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team within the setting of an outstanding new facility capable of utilizing various advanced approaches. The candidate will be mentored in career development toward independent research and training to become a principle investigator. Enthusiastic applicants with several years of research experience in biochemistry, molecular biology,immunology, cellular, molecular, and structural biology, or biological sciences are encouraged to apply.

Duties & Responsibilities |
- Conduct advanced, multi-disciplinary research requiring knowledge of standard scientific protocols and principles.
- Troubleshoot and modify procedures and techniques when appropriate.
- Develop, design, and conduct complex research projects according to research protocol.
- Perform model creation and technical procedures related to mice research.
- Perform technical procedures related to preparation of paraffin section and frozen section, immunostaining, Hematoxylin, and Eosin.
- Plasmid vector construction for transgenic stem cell lines.
- Perform flow cytometry and cells sorting.
- Perform the results of single cell RNA sequencing with R Language.
- Analyze research data and statistics.
- Present results at laboratory meetings, conferences, and publish papers.
- Ensure regulatory compliance of research activities
- Write and submit grant proposals. This includes preparing technical and/or scientific proposals for grants, developing and coordinating budgets, administrative elements, and needed materials.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of coordinating experiments, and completing analysis, statistics, and interpretation.
- Ability to communicate in a clear, concise manner orally and in writing.
- Ability to participate at scientific conferences and present findings.

Minimum Qualifications |
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required, AND;
- 5 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Experience performing animal surgery.
- Expertise with maintaining animal breeding colonies and genotyping.
- Microscopy experience, particularly fluorescence and confocal imaging and analysis.
- Experience with histology, immunohistochemistry and protein analysis.
