Responsibilities
The Workplace Technology Engineer (Mid-Level) supports the management, configuration, and security of endpoint platforms with a strong focus in the Microsoft 365 ecosystem. This role focuses on day-to-day administration, troubleshooting, and improvement of endpoint management solutions using Microsoft Intune and SCCM, ensuring devices are compliant, secure, and optimized to improve employee productivity. Additionally, this role is responsible for other workplace technology platforms such as critical alert management and digital signage platforms. The Workplace Technology Engineer partners with stakeholders, security and support teams to deliver reliable endpoint services.
Key Responsibilities:
Platform, Application and Device Management:
- Design, implement, and maintain application deployment configuration policies, zero-touch deployment, and patch management utilizing endpoint management platforms including Intune (both hybrid and fully Azure joined endpoints), SCCM, PatchMyPC, and other endpoint management tools for Windows/iOS/MacOS/iPadOS/Windows365/Android/digital design devices.
- Implement and administer SaaS applications (Box/AlertMedia/Rockbot TV/BrightAuthor/Canva and others)
- Support the deployment and updating of security baselines and software packages.
User Experience:
- Minimize friction by delivering zero touch deployments, using tools/telemetry to monitor/manage the experience for continuous improvement and self-service/healing delivery.
- Collaborate with senior engineers and stakeholders to gather requirements and implement endpoint solutions.
User Support and Troubleshooting:
- Administer and support device enrollment, configuration, and application issue, ensuring optimal performance, availability and security, and act as an escalation point for IT Service Support.
- Operate within ITIL/ServiceNow processes and deliver enablement for technologists.
- Participate in endpoint lifecycle management, including provisioning, deprovisioning, and remote support.
Policy Development and Implementation:
- Partner with the security team to enforce security and compliance policies, including configuration profiles, app protection, device compliance policies, and conditional access.
Monitoring and Reporting:
- Monitor Intune/SCCM performance and generate reports on endpoint health and compliance; respond to alerts and resolve issues as directed.
- Service Health monitoring using Microsoft 365 console and actively respond based on system alerts and notifications
Integration with Other Microsoft Services:
- Work closely with Office 365, Azure Active Directory, and other related Microsoft services to ensure seamless integration and policy management.
Training and Documentation:
- Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for endpoint configurations, governance processes, and procedures and user/tech facing runbooks for repeatable changes within the endpoint management platforms.
Stay current with Trends:
- Keep up to date with industry's best standards, trends, and security risks associated with Intune/SCCM/MDM and other endpoint management platforms to promote current features and best practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.
- 5-7+ years of enterprise IT experience in Windows Systems Administration
- 3+ years relevant experience in modern workplace technologies.
- Advanced endpoint management using Microsoft Intune, SCCM and endpoint management tools for Windows/Windows365/macOS and MDM for iPad/iOS/Android.
- Microsoft 365 workloads i.e. O365, OneDrive, Azure AD, Windows 11
- Enterprise collaboration tools i.e. Teams, OneDrive, Zoom, Box, Adobe
- Demonstrated experience with scripting languages such as Powershell, Python, Bash, Shell, etc (Powershell highly preferred)
- Working knowledge of device compliance, configuration profiles, and application deployment.
- Experience with Microsoft Intune leveraging corporate enrollment (Autopilot/Apple Business Manager)
- Experience with configuring and managing configuration policies in Microsoft 365 and Group Policy for Domain environments.
- Intermediate understanding of Microsoft 365 security features (Zero Trust, Conditional Access, MFA, Defender for Endpoint).
- Strong understanding of IT Service Management (ITSM) processes and best practices.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to follow established procedures and escalate complex issues as needed.
