Job Description

The Software Engineer Manager architects and designs their digital products using modern tools, technologies, frameworks, and systems. They apply a systematic application of scientific and technological knowledge, methods, and experience to the design, implementation, testing, and documentation of software. They own and manage running their application in production, and ultimately becomes accountable for the success of their digital products through achieving KPIs. The Software Engineer manager plans, directs, designs, and executes IT-related activities and programs that are of a complex and critical nature. The Software Engineer Manager selects, leads, counsels, motivates, sets expectations and evaluates medium to large teams. Additionally, they confer with and advise direct reports on administrative policies and procedures, risks, issues, problem resolution, sourcing decisions, budget and priorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive requirements analysis activities and develop the design of highly complex architectural solutions involving multiple logical and/or physical dimensions. Oversee the production and present documentation for these components.

  • Maintain awareness of current complex architectures and business drivers and guide their application to initiatives as appropriate.

  • Consult on the application of reference architecture, strategic direction of enterprise technology, and serve as subject matter expert with contextual knowledge of the business model.

  • Utilize or develop reusable patterns, practices, and enterprise reference architectures that fit within the overall Allstate architectural blueprint.

  • Advocate effective architectural designs and optimize current architecture and processes

  • Influence clients and partners to prioritize for enterprise benefit and risk reduction and assist in driving the adoption of technology solutions that leverage existing patterns, practices, and reference architectures.

  • Identify opportunities to enhance existing architecture.

  • Assist withdrafting the business caseincluding identification ofpotential business/customer benefits.

  • Apply reference architectures and positions toward the design, deployment and support of highly complex systems that deliver business functionality.

  • Involve Director and Associate Vice President level leadership from business and technology disciplines to present and deliver highly complex solutions as needed.

Essential Skills

  • A minimum of 4 years' experience in Privileged Access Management

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in Infrastructure as Code

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in Azure Cloud

  • A good understanding of Privileged Identity Management, JIT (Just-in-Time access) and JEA (Just Enough Administration)

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience coaching and mentoring global teams

Desirable criteria

  • Experience in AWS and GCP

  • Understanding of authentication (OAuth, SAML, Kerberos), authorization, and account lifecycle.

  • Familiarity with Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud-especially their identity and secrets management tools (e.g., Azure Key Vault, AWS Secrets Manager).

  • Strong experience with Windows Server, Linux, and Active Directory environments.

  • Experience with PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar for automating tasks.

Compensation

Compensation offered for this role is $112,000.00 - 196,750.00 annually and is based on experience and qualifications.
