Auria is looking to hire a UI/UX Designer with a broad range of skills across various UX disciplines such as research, design, and testing. This role is a HYBRID role in Colorado Springs, CO.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO DO:
- Apply UI/UX expertise and skills to the design of Auria's suite of gamified trainers and other software capabilities being delivered to end-users.
- Design elegant, modern, and responsive user interfaces for web-based and desktop-based applications in a secure DoD environment.
- Conduct user research, stakeholder interviews, and usability testing to gather insights and validate design decisions.
- Create wireframes, mockups, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity UI designs using tools like Figma, Adobe XD, or Sketch.
- Develop and maintain design systems, style guides, and component libraries aligned with security and accessibility standards.
- Ensure compliance with Section 508 / WCAG accessibility guidelines and DoD security constraints in design.
- As required, work alongside frontend developer to implement front end designs, components and consistency.
- Participate as a member of the development team in Agile Scrum practices to design, develop, and deploy engaging, interactive solutions to achieve stakeholder vision and objectives.
- Participate in sprint ceremonies including reviews, demos, & planning; backlog refinement, usability & feedback sessions, and team retros also included.
- Mentor developers on UI/UX, User-Centered & Intuitive Design, and human factors principles while continuing their own professional/skills development; help shape the development environment and processes.
- Apply skills, ingenuity, and professionalism in all phases of the software development lifecycle.
- Represent the team in discovery & design, demonstration, and training sessions with industry partners and customers.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in UI/UX Design, Human Factors, Game Design & Development, or a related field.
- Has 3+ years of UI/UX design experience having made significant contributions to a playable game, simulation, or other interactive experience.
- Must have experience with wireframes & mockups, intuitive design, UX design, human factors, UCD, research & discovery approaches, UI patterns, workflow analysis, prototyping, and usability testing.
- Proficiency in modern design tools (Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, etc.).
- Able to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings.
- Is self-guided/driven while working alone or in a team environment.
- Comfortable briefing capabilities in a wide array of customer and leadership engagement settings.
- Growing experience with the UX design lifecycle to include defining, researching, analyzing, designing, prototyping, testing, launching, and iterating.
- Experience working within and iterating on a design system.
- Active DoD Secret Clearance (or eligibility and willingness to obtain).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in intuitive design ("Intuitive Design", McKay), game design ("The Art of Game Design", Schell) or UX design (Design Thinking/UCD).
- Experience using Jira and Confluence.
- Experience in gamification and interactive learning/training approaches.
- Experience in web design.
- Experience with 3D game (Unity, C#) design and development.
- Design experience relevant to Live, Virtual, and Constructive training environments.
- Design experience relevant to Space and Missile Defense (e.g., satellite systems, missile tracking, command and control).
- Experience working within the DoD.
PAY TRANSPARENCY: The salary offered will be based on the selected candidate's qualifications - skills, education & experience - and the position level. $93,583 - $134,760
