Be the Bridge Between Vision and Execution
In this dynamic role, you will collaborate closely with project managers, field leaders, and the preconstruction team to transform customer specifications, drawings, and bills of materials into clear, actionable scopes of work. You will take ownership of developing proposals for review and approval, conducting risk assessments, and crafting accurate estimates that set projects up for success.
From identifying subcontracted services, equipment, and materials to performing the estimate-to-execution handoff, you will be involved every step of the way. You will follow projects through implementation to final punch list-monitoring expenses, recommending cost-saving strategies, and capturing valuable historical data to drive future improvements.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

- Prepare proposals in alignment with established estimating policies and procedures, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget targets.
- Use the centralized cost estimating database and follow standard operating procedures to incorporate historical data into estimates.
- Develop cost estimates for small to mid-sized projects at various design stages; participate in project meetings to understand scope and schedules.
- Collaborate with the preconstruction team to negotiate pricing with vendors and subcontractors; obtain competitive quotes and prepare purchase orders as needed.
- Provide support to project management throughout all phases of the project.
- Maintain a prioritized task list to manage workflow efficiently.
- Partner with preconstruction and industrial leadership to identify opportunities for efficiency, cost savings, and added customer value.
- Manage project drawings and maintain accurate logs until handoff to the execution team.
- Promote open communication and collaboration; support team meetings, reporting, and feedback across internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Education & Experience:
- Two-year degree in Mechanical or CAD Drafting, or related field, OR two years or more of industrial construction experience, is required.
- Must have a basic understanding of or ability to learn industrial mechanical systems, equipment, drawings, specifications, and techniques.
- One year of estimating experience is preferred.
Other Details:
- This position will report regularly in person to Duluth, MN.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant estimating software.
- Must be an effective multitasker with proven time management and organizational skills.

Compensation & Benefits:
- The expected hourly compensation range for this position is $27.20 - $40.80. Compensation offered to the selected candidate will vary depending on relevant knowledge, skills, training, experience, and market conditions.
