The Role

Amphenol Aerospace Operations is seeking an iSeries Administratorto work out of its state-of-the-art facility in Sidney, NY.

The key responsibilities of this iSeries Administratorinclude, but are not limited to:



  • Oversee daily administration of IBM AS/400 (iSeries) hardware, operating systems, and third-party applications
  • Install, configure, and maintain AS/400 hardware, OS/400 software, networked devices, client-access software, journaling, mirroring, and related components
  • Collaborate with the network team to support Windows-based server environments integrated with AS/400 systems
  • Develop, document, and maintain procedures for system backups, restores, performance optimization, and configuration management
  • Manage and monitor backup operations for production systems and ensure compliance with organizational policies
  • Apply and test operating system updates, application software releases, and patches in both test and production environments
  • Conduct system monitoring to verify resource integrity, system availability, and job completion, review system and application logs regularly
  • Ensure successful backup of all required file systems and system data; manage media rotation and storage in accordance with backup policies
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software failures; assist users in recovery and restoration of impacted services
  • Participate in the on-call support rotation to provide timely resolution of system issues
  • Lead and coordinate AS/400 system recovery efforts as part of the organization's disaster recovery strategy

Salary: $65,000 - $90,000

The Person

The key skills and qualities of a at Amphenol Aerospace Operations:



  • Bachelor's degree in information systems or related field, with a minimum of 3 years' experience in AS/400 / OS/400 system administration
  • Hands-on experience with applying Program Temporary Fixes (PTFs) and performing version upgrades
  • Experience managing backup processes using industry best practices for media rotation, retention, and disaster recovery
  • Experience with Windows Server administration is preferred
  • Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues involving AS/400 hardware and software
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently to troubleshoot issues and manage scheduled tasks
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to build and maintain professional relationships across teams and departments
  • In-depth knowledge of AS/400 system operations, administration and troubleshooting techniques
  • Familiarity with AS/400 networked environments, including access controls, security protocols, and compliance procedures
  • Solid understanding of network protocols, infrastructure, and software components relevant to AS/400 systems
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Physical ability to work in an office environment, including prolonged periods of sitting or standing
  • Ability to lift and carry light to moderate loads as required
