SUMMARY


Perform UT inspection of the parts for wall thickness conformance according to Inspection Methods Requirements Sheets. Performs the following duties:



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.



Operates and calibrates UT equipment


Inspects part for wall thickness conformance per established procedures.


Identifies and removes UT rejects from work order.


UT operator uses ultrasonic thickness gauge to measure the casting wall thickness for dimensional integrity.



QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE


High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.



LANGUAGE SKILLS


Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, inspection manuals and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.



MATHEMATICAL SKILLS


Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers and decimals.



REASONING ABILITY


Ability to exercise good judgment and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to use sound judgement and make decisions based on all available information. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Job requires light lifting to 35 pounds, and sitting while performing the operation, Training and certification exams.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. Although a minimal potential for exposure to radiation is possible, actual exposure is highly unlikely. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
