POSITION SUMMARY: As an Ultrasonic Trainee, your day will look like: The Nondestructive Testing (NDT) Trainee - Ultrasonic Testing (UT) position is an entry-level role designated for individuals who are interested in the UT method, but who have not yet achieved certification. The trainee is responsible for obtaining practical work experience under the direct supervision and guidance of a certified UT inspector in accordance with applicable procedures, standards, and company policies. The NDT Trainee shall not independently conduct examinations, make accept or reject determinations, or perform any other NDT function without the oversight of a certified inspector. The primary objective of this role is to acquire the foundational knowledge, technical skills, and hands-on experience necessary to qualify for future certification. The maximum duration of employment as an NDT Trainee shall not exceed one (1) year, during which the individual is expected to demonstrate satisfactory progress, gain the required on the job hours (OTJ), and pass the Ultrasonic test to be certified. POSITION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Conducts regular and complex testing under supervision of material or product.
- Examines product for possible internal or external defects.
- Prepares material to properly examine material by cleaning, identifying, setup, etc.
- Be trained to read or interpret blueprints or drawings, specifications and scan procedures in order to accomplish ultrasonic setups, tests, and report preparation.
- Other duties assigned by supervisor.
- Learn to operate all instruments and test systems.
- Learn to read technical instructions and mill instructions.
- Written and practical examinations will be administrated after acquiring 400 hours of on job experience.
- Upon receiving passing results, will reach Level I.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Be able to follow the written instructions in the techniques/methods.
- Be able to use Microsoft Office 365
- Use Windows
BASIC REQUIRED SKILLS (Equivalent combinations of education, licenses, certifications and/or experience will be considered):
- Basic computer skills
- High School Diploma or equivalent
PREFERRED REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Experience with root cause analysis, Ultrasonic experience, aerospace material, engineering/quality specifications, and programming capabilities.
- NDT UT formal training (40 hours for level 1)
