Job Title: School RN (On Call)

Location: Hemet, CA 92543

Duration: 3 months to long term

Shift: 07:00 AM - 03:45 PM

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Plans, assesses and evaluates the health and development status of students (including mandated screenings) to identify specific medical disorders and health issues affecting the learning process.
  • Interprets the health and developmental assessment to health technicians, parents, teachers, administrators, and other professionals directly concerned with the pupil.
  • Designs and implements a health maintenance plan to meet the individual health needs of the pupil.
  • Refers pupil to appropriate community resources for necessary services.
  • Interprets medical and nursing findings and makes recommendations to professional personnel involved.
  • Maintains communication with parents and all involved agencies to encourage necessary treatment.
  • Identifies, implements, and evaluates health and nursing services goals and objectives for the student's Individualized Education Program (I.E.P.) and determines whether services may be provided through IHSP/504/ADA procedure.
  • Determines and sets policies for communicable disease control in accordance with District and California Department of Public Health policy.
  • Consults with, conducts in-service training to, and serves as a resource person to teachers and administrators, and acts as participant in implementing sections of a comprehensive health curriculum for students by providing current scientific information regarding nutrition, preventive dentistry, mental health, genetics, prevention of communicable disease, self-health care, consumer education and growth and development.
  • Provides direction and training for health technicians, teachers, administrators, and other school staff in first aid guidelines and other areas of health.
  • Sets first aid policy for the schools in accordance with District policy; counsels pupils and parents in the following areas: by assisting in identifying and utilizing appropriate private and community health delivery services for professional care and remediation of defects.
  • Working with parents, pupils, and staff regarding health related attendance problems; helping parents, school personnel, and pupils understand and adjust to physical, mental, and social limitations; exploring with families and pupils the attitudes, information, and values which affect their health behaviour.
  • Provides professional supervision of health technicians to assure compliance in all aspects of the health services program in accordance with state law and District policies and procedures; provides in-service and training for new nursing staff and classified staff who function in health services.


Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse License.
  • Credentialed School Nurse Certificate.
