What You'll Do

As a Facilities / Maintenance Manager, you will be accountable to plan, lead and manage the day to day operations of the Plant Engineering department to support the 400-acre facility, ~270 buildings and seven Product department, Waster treatment facility, Distribution at the Simsbury sites. This also includes directing Facilities & Maintenance Operations (Yard and Boiler House, area land lease, Incoming Utilities Liaison). Other duties include:

  • Demonstrate and/or lead the commitment to the pursuit of achieving Zero Harm through behavioral based safety

  • Ensure compliance with applicable HSE performance standards, objectives and regulations

  • Live and foster the IPL Corporate Values

  • Supports Manufacturing Excellence initiatives and ensures participation from all areas of responsibility.

  • Direct activities in area of responsibility to attain maximum plant operating efficiency.

  • Manage operation within approved budget for controllable costs. Participate in annual budget process and develop budget within areas of responsibility.

  • Write or participate in developing CEP's for annual CAPEX spending.

  • Supervises and trains personnel in the safe and proper operation and care of all equipment in process, storage and loading facilities.

  • Maintain good personnel relations by explaining company goals and policies.

  • Facilitate all personnel actions as required (scheduling, recognition and reward, discipline)

  • Conduct communication meetings.

  • Makes daily inspection of proper operation and condition of plant process and equipment. Ensures all units and areas are kept in clean and orderly fashion. Takes necessary action to correct and complement findings.

  • Coordinate with maintenance to address needed repair work modifications within areas of responsibility.

  • Maintain environmental compliance within areas of responsibility.

  • Plans and prepares special instructions for areas of responsibility

What We're Looking For:

  • 5+ years (combined) in one or more of the following industries: energetic materials, chemical refining, technical manufacturing or military maintenance experience
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues in all of the various processes associated with explosives manufacturing.
  • Good working knowledge of the Quality Assurance program and manufacturing processes through previous assignments.
  • Ability to interact and discuss issues with regulatory compliance officials.
  • Ability to provide direction and coaching to others in an effective leadership manner
  • Must be willing to undergo and pass an ATF background check as required to be a possessor of explosives
  • Positive attitude, friendly demeanor, and a team player
