Benefits Job Description
Purpose and Scope The Office of Human Resources provides leadership in the planning, integration, and implementation of human resource services and programs for faculty, staff, and retirees across all campuses and the health system. Collectively with our campus colleagues, we serve as a strategic and trusted advisor for centralized services including benefits, compensation and retirement. As part of the Benefits team, this position provides essential support to daily human resources processing, serving over 50,000 active & separated employees, retirees, beneficiaries and dependents. Responsibilities 40% Serve as department leader in the employee benefits area, including coaching, performance feedback, supervision, effective team development, and fostering a collaborative high-performing environment. Oversee the administration of group health, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, flexible spending, Health Savings Accounts, billing and auditing. 30% Lead and/or serve on various project implementation teams including assisting the director to identify, develop and implement strategies and analyze cost/value propositions to achieve a competitive benefit package that align with organizational goals and employee needs. Monitor industry trends, benchmarking data, and best practices to recommend innovative and competitive benefit solutions. 10% Assist with relationship development, contract maintenance and program implementation to ensure positive partnerships and contract compliance. Engage with benefit vendors and consultants. Evaluate vendor performance and service delivery to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness. 10% Lead continuous process improvement, ensuring standardized processes and policies and engaging customers in improvements. Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, etc.) 5% Engage consistently with COE leaders and educate employees on various policies and benefits; key expert in supporting executives', leaders, supervisors and managers to deliver tools and resources that support recruitment and retention. 5% Develop and deliver effective benefits communication strategies to educate and engage employees. Resolve complex employee inquiries and issues related to benefits plans. Coordinate, develop and/or deliver strategic presentations in various formats (i.e. PowerPoint) that support executive leaders' decision making related to strategic initiatives. Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 6 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary. Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and three years of human resources office experience demonstrating knowledge of basic benefit administration, exceptional customer service and organizational skills. Excel spreadsheet skills with experience with v-lookup and pivot tables is preferred, attention to detail, accuracy and ability to follow through independently. PeopleSoft experience is helpful. Team player with interpersonal, customer service and communication skills. Proven analytic and problem- solving skills. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Works autonomously and uses sound judgment. Familiarity with university systems and human resources policies or equivalent. Anticipated Hiring Range
