This position is responsible for the following: Preparation of U.S. and Canadian payroll tax returns, including payroll tax accruals, and the resolution of audits, appeals, and protests. The individual will also be responsible for unclaimed property reports, payments, and potential refunds, including the identification of potential tax savings opportunities and other projects as assigned. This position is also responsible for research and analysis in the areas of payroll and unclaimed property, as well as the more challenging projects as they arise. Qualified candidates who are currently Wells Fargo Rail employees will be given priority consideration over other external applicants. Responsibilities
The Tax Accountant is responsible for the preparation of all U.S. and Canadian payroll taxes for GATX Corp., and GATX Rail Locomotive. This individual must stay current with and implement U.S. and Canadian tax law for compliance purposes. They must also assure consistency and clarity of presentation in the tax returns. This individual must have effective communication skills to interact with the business units as well as independent auditors, assessors, contract appraisers, outside counsel and the governmental agencies of Canada. The individual must be capable of performing independent research on payroll tax issues, developing positions and recommendations.

This is a hybrid position which will require the employee to work in the office at least 3 days a week throughout the year. The employee may work remotely the balance of the time, apart from quarter and year-end close, when work is fully in-office. Posting Duration This posting will remain open for 5 days. As of the post date, the salary range for this position is: Min USD $59,600.00/Yr. Max USD $70,400.00/Yr. This role may be eligible to participate in the Company's short-term incentive plan, the details of which will be provided to the applicant upon hire. This range is a reasonable estimate and takes into account several factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including, but not limited to, geographic location, skill set, experience, education, training, internal equity, and other business needs. |
