Job Title: Manufacturing Machine Operator 1 Lead (1st Shift: Monday - Friday, 7am - 3pm)

This position will be responsible for supporting the department Supervisor with the day-to-day operations of Centerless Grinding departments. Candidate will oversee the team and ensure an efficient operation to achieve Key Performance Indicators (KPI's)

Key Job Responsibilities



  • Monitor production rates and help team members understand daily production goals.
  • Ensure that team members follow defined manufacturing procedures and comply with quality standards.
  • Work to ensure all resources available are applied in an efficient and effective manner to meet delivery requirements.
  • Ensure that non-conforming materials are clearly identified and segregated.
  • Resolves issues related to the organization's production, machinery, and processing.
  • Manage work order prioritization.
  • Move all materials, either physically or mechanically, necessary to complete assignments.
  • Assist with changeovers and troubleshooting of Grinding equipment.
  • Maintain communication with department Supervisor.
  • Complete daily production documentation.
  • Conduct daily department meetings.
  • Train to operate all equipment within the area of responsibility.
  • Perform skills/performance assessments for department operators.
  • Write and edit/update work instructions, as needed.
  • Assist with 8D or 5 why Root cause analysis for quality issues.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by manager.


Skills and Attributes



  • Ability to lead by example, gain respect from team and communicate with clarity.
  • Excellent critical thinking skills.
  • Contributes directly and indirectly to specific skilled tasks or processes.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision for non-routine situations.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing methodologies.
  • Strong PC skills and experience of software such as Excel and SAP.
  • Must be able to read, interpret and comprehend blueprints.
  • Advanced decision making and troubleshooting ability.



Preferred Areas of Education, Certifications, and Skills



  • 3 years of relevant work experience preferred.
  • Experience in leading small teams.
  • Experience in developing process competent machine operators.
  • High level of Mathematics. (Trigonometry, Geometry and Algebra)
  • Interpersonal skills with good communication working in team environment.



Physical Demands



  • Standing for 8-10 hour shifts
  • Intermittent walking, reaching, sitting, squatting, kneeling and bending
  • Safety glasses with side-shields required
  • Safety shoes required
  • Cut resistant gloves required, when necessary
