Job Description

Position Overview
The intern will be responsible for developing, testing, and implementing tools to detect and quantify DNA damage artifacts-particularly those caused by oxidation and deamination-in next-generation sequencing (NGS) products. This project will require the intern to research and evaluate existing software solutions for artifact detection, as well as adapting or developing new quality control tools as needed to address specific laboratory requirements. A key aspect of this work will be the establishment and validation of optimal thresholds for quality control and artifact filtering. To accomplish these tasks, the intern will work with NGS variant data, quality control metrics, and other data. Close collaboration with laboratory and bioinformatics operations staff will be essential for understanding current workflows. Through this work, the intern will contribute to high standards of data integrity and reliability.
