Lubbock Senior Director for Financial Reporting 42450BR Accounting Services Position Description Manages and directs the day to day operations of a research center/institute or medium sized department. Plans, coordinates and supervises the operation and activities of the center/institute/department. Develops and implements policies and procedures, administers the budget, organizes tasks and sets priorities. About the Department and/or College Accounting Services (AS) works under the Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in the division of Administration & Finance. AS oversees state accounting, post-award research administration, property management, financial systems, operating funds, and financial reporting for Texas Tech University and its 42,200 students and $1.8 billion budget. We currently have close to 60 positions and are continuously growing to meet the strategic long-term objectives of TTU. Heading the department is the Assistant Vice President and Controller. Major/Essential Functions
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Bachelor's degree in accounting. Demonstrated competency in verbal and written communication, time management, accounting or analytical procedures, problem-solving, and decision-making. Ability to learn complex information systems and proficiency in Excel and Word. Experience in governmental &/or higher education accounting. Ability to operate & manage Ellucian's Banner finance module. Experience in ERP implementation & structuring of workflows. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree required, master's preferred; Six years progressively responsible management experience. Additional education beyond Bachelor's may substitute for experience on a year for year basis. Preferred Qualifications Accounting or Finance degree; current standing as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Travel Required Up to 25% Shift Day Schedule Details Generally 8am to 5pm, with time to complete projects as needed. Grant Funded?
