We are seeking a dedicated Junior to Senior Optical Test Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be actively involved in laboratory activities related to testing and validating optical platforms which support advanced cloud and data center network solutions. In addition to optical testing responsibilities, the role includes test automation and GUI support for customer demonstrations. We serve global clients in telecom and datacom industries in providing innovative optical modules and subsystems to support our customer's next generation networks. We are hiring an Optical Test Engineer to join our team. This person will be responsible for testing our optical DWDM network. This role is critical to the advancement of our next phases in product development.

What You Will Do

  • Perform functional, performance, and reliability assessments of optical systems.
  • Measure essential optical metrics such as insertion loss, crosstalk, switching time, and OSNR.
  • Conduct regression testing for firmware and software updates.
  • Develop and maintain test automation scripts in Python.
  • Contribute to designing automated workflows that enhance the efficiency of the optical platform validation processes.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining demonstration GUIs for customer trials.
  • Prepare scripts or GUI tools to present optical platform performance results visually.
  • Provide setup assistance and basic troubleshooting in customer evaluation laboratories.
  • Configure optical testbeds, including lasers, OSAs, power meters, and BER testers.
  • Oversee fiber patching, maintenance, and general laboratory upkeep to ensure precision in testing.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline.
  • Foundational knowledge of optical communications, such as WDM, Optical Switching and line system, and MEMS.
  • Experience with optical test equipment, including ASE/TLS light source, OSA, power meter, Wave shaper, optical switch, O/E converter and oscilloscope.
  • Practical scripting proficiency, preferably using Python.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to ongoing learning.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Familiarity with test automation frameworks.
  • Experience in GUI development (e.g., Python Tkinter, PyQt, or web-based dashboards).
  • Understanding of optical switching technology (MEMS-based OCS, optical cross-connect).
  • Basic knowledge of networking protocols (Ethernet, TCP/IP).

For this role, we anticipate paying $130,000 - $180,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
