JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Buyer with deep expertise in electrical parts and components to join our procurement team. Ideal candidates will have prior experience working with leading electrical distributors such as Graybar or Rexel, and possess a strong understanding of vendor relations, inventory management, and strategic sourcing in the electrical supply industry.

job duties and responsibilities

Prospect and develop new accounts
Procure electrical parts and components including wire, cable, conduit, lighting, switchgear, and control systems.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure competitive pricing, quality, and timely delivery.
Analyze inventory levels and usage trends to optimize purchasing decisions and reduce excess stock.
Collaborate with engineering, operations, and project management teams to forecast demand and align procurement strategies.
Negotiate contracts and terms with vendors, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry standards.
Monitor market trends and product innovations to identify cost-saving opportunities and alternative sourcing options.
Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier performance.
Resolve issues related to delivery delays, defective products, or invoice discrepancies.

job knowledge AND skills

Prior employment at Graybar, Rexel, or similar electrical supply companies is strongly preferred.
Solid understanding of electrical components, specifications, and industry standards.
Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

education/certification/job experience required

3+ years of experience in purchasing or supply chain roles within the electrical distribution industry.
Must be able to pass pre-employment testing (drug and background) and have a valid driver's license
Ability to obtain and retain Department of Defense Security Clearance
